From New York to Nashville: Elizabeth Mooney’s Country Fusion Journey

It all started on Long Island, NY, where Elizabeth Mooney was practically born into the rhythm of life. A dancer since the age of two, she’s been moving to the beat ever since—whether that’s in a New York studio, on an Off-Broadway stage, or now, teaching high-energy line dance fitness classes in the heart of Music City.

Elizabeth isn’t your average fitness instructor. She’s a choreographer, entrepreneur, performer, and all-around force of nature. After teaching fitness for over a decade and even producing her own Off-Broadway show, she took a leap—swapping the East Coast hustle for Southern charm and sunshine in Nashville. It was there she planted roots for Country Fusion®, a dance-fitness hybrid where sneakers and water bottles meet whiskey and cowboy boots.

“What you learn in class, you take to the honky tonk at night.”

Country Fusion is more than a workout—it’s a lifestyle. The program fuses traditional line dancing with other genres, incorporating non-country tracks that keep the energy fresh. Whether you’re prepping for a girls’ night out, a bachelorette bash, or just want a different kind of sweat session, there’s a class for that. Elizabeth has even taken it to the pool with Country Fusion Aquatics—yep, line dancing in water. It’s a pool party, she says, and we believe her.

But getting here wasn’t exactly a smooth ride. Elizabeth’s journey is one of grit and reinvention. She survived identity theft, went through a divorce while pregnant, and rebuilt as a single mom. Moving to Nashville wasn’t always met with open arms either.

“I was called a Yankee, banned from a honky tonk, and had to pivot my whole business model from fitness to tourism.”

And yet, through it all, she danced on. When COVID hit, it only accelerated her plans. She started offering Zoom classes, keeping her NY community connected while reaching new students globally. That flexibility laid the groundwork for a seamless expansion to Nashville—and beyond.

Today, instructors across the world are teaching her program, and Elizabeth continues to tour with top fitness brands. Her headquarters in Nashville isn’t just a business—it’s a dream realized.
